BUSINESS MATTERS Networking Luncheon

Wednesday, April 30, 2025 (11:30 AM - 1:00 PM) (MDT)

Description

Join us each month to network with fellow members at the SEWC "Business Matters" Networking Luncheon! Fuel your body with one of the delicious menu items from Ben's brick oven and fuel your brain as you learn about topics of interest and importance to the business and farm/ranch communities that make up Southeast Weld County.

April 2025

Join us and your fellow Chamber members to learn more about the role Aims Community College plays in innovation in Weld County, Business Incubation, and what the goal of the Aims Workforce Innovation Center (AWIC) means for the Weld County business communities. Presented by Dr. Nick Spezza, Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs at Aims Community College.

The AWIC will be a facility for workforce development, entrepreneurship, and education and has a scheduled opening date of fall 2026.  Measuring in at 45,000 square feet and with an estimated cost of $25.5 million, it will serve as the first innovation incubator in the county.  The spaces will be outfitted with virtual and augmented reality tools and will also feature business incubator space, manufacturing labs, and outdoor testing areas. It will also serve as a gathering space for Colorado entrepreneurs to foster collaboration among students, business leaders, and local startups.

Dr. Marilyn Schock has dubbed the AWIC as a launchpad for opportunity.  “By bringing together education, entrepreneurship, and industry, we are not only strengthening our regional workforce but also positioning Weld County as a leader in innovation and economic growth.”

Dr. Nick Spezza

Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs at Aims Community College

With a forward-thinking approach to education, Dr. Spezza plays a pivotal role in shaping the academic direction of the college, with a particular focus on student success and institutional growth. As an advocate for educational excellence, he is committed to ensuring Aims remains a hub for future-ready opportunities. One of the most exciting initiatives he is currently working on is the Aims Workforce & Innovation Center (AWIC), a transformative project that will provide students, faculty, and the local community with cutting-edge resources in emerging technologies and entrepreneurship. Through this initiative, Dr. Spezza is helping to shape the future of work in Greeley & Weld County, ensuring that the college and the community it serves stays ahead of the curve in a rapidly changing world.
